Public Hearing Announced For June 7th!
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
TCEQ has announced a Public Hearing date of Monday, June 7, 2021 at 6 pm
{TCEQ Public Hearing Notice & sample agenda of what to expect available at bottom of page}
This is a very important milestone in our mission to make TCEQ and all local officials aware of our intent to keep this concrete batch plant away from our residential communities.
Although we know the TCEQ does not have a strong record of denying Air Quality permits for concrete batch plants, this is the only avenue where the public has a platform to voice health & safety concerns. Fortunately, this air quality permit is not the only permit that Buendia Concrete, LLC must obtain before construction can begin. And we plan to use your documented public opposition via this Public Hearing and TCEQ’s website comments to show all county and state permitting agencies just how upset and concerned our community is and that this concrete batch plant must relocate to a suitable setting for industrial operations.
Once we begin pursuing additional permitting and legal avenues in our fight to stop this plant, we will be using our combined community strength to further our position. Currently we are an impressive 1375 strong but let’s not stop there! Encourage your neighbors who may not have yet posted a comment on TCEQ’s website to please do so as we have until the end of the Public Hearing on June 7th to post comments. It is very important to have your voice heard, your comments read, and our County and State officials to participate in the Public Hearing to show a community-wide united front.
It is also important that everyone log-on to the Public Hearing webinar on June 7th even if you do not plan to speak. The TCEQ will be able to register the number of individuals logging in to the webinar and we want those numbers to be very impactful.
Here is how you can help in this next step of our community fight against Buendia Concrete’s plan to build this concrete batch plant near our homes:

As you are aware, this is more than just an air quality issue. Water quality, noise, traffic safety, truck emissions, and our property values are ALL at risk. Accordingly, we are mounting a multi-pronged legal, environmental, and community outreach campaign in response. Your assistance is critical to waging the various battles successfully. A donation of just $100 - $200 would be a helpful and meaningful contribution towards our goal of stopping this plant.
Thank you for all that you are doing to Stop The Buendia Concrete Plant!
Respectfully,
Committee to Stop The Buendia Concrete Plant (100% Volunteer)
